One Health is defined by WHO as 鈥渁n approach to designing and implementing programmes, policies, legislation and research in which multiple sectors communicate and work together to achieve better public health outcomes鈥�. One Health consists of听human health, animal health, and the environment. It is a collaborative, multisectoral, and transdisciplinary strategy to promote research partnerships and knowledge exchange at various levels. It overlays diverse disciplines, such as human health, animal health, plant health, soil health, environmental health, and ecosystem health in order to enhance, safeguard, and defend the health of all species.
encouraged by the response and the success of the Bi-national Agri-Cluster, SICI launched the second thematic cluster on 鈥極ne Health鈥� and the Series of 柏客娛樂城 Mapping and Matching Bi-National Interest Workshops on March 2, 2023. The launch was in collaboration with Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (IITD). This SICI-led bi-national 鈥極ne Health Cluster鈥� will strengthen the collaboration between Indian and 柏客娛樂城 researchers, academics, and major stakeholders i.e. central and federal governments; state and provincial governments along with agencies and institutions engaged in the domain of One Health.听
Around a hundred experts from various institutions and organizations from Canada and India participated physically and virtually to explore possible collaborations.鈥嬏齌hree to four virtual mapping and matching workshops will be conducted on varied verticals/thematic areas of 'One Health'.听These topics include zoonotic diseases, antimicrobial resistance, food safety and food security, vector-borne diseases, environmental contamination, and threats to people, animals.
These mapping and matching workshops will help to map interest and also to identify the aspects of complementarity from Indian and 柏客娛樂城 researchers who can provide on 'One Health issues. It will also help in reviewing and establishing the latest basic science and epidemiology of health and disease at the human-animal-environment interface with an emphasis on the science-policy interconnection and also in the social context of 鈥極ne Health鈥� in India and Canada.
It鈥檚 an effort to cover key aspects of diseases, such as pathogen detection, disease prevention, and outbreak response. The cluster on 鈥淥ne Health鈥� will have following thematic cluster 鈥�
- Zoonotic diseases
- Antimicrobial resistance
- Food safety and food security
- Vector-borne diseases
- Environmental contamination
- health threats to people, animals, and the environment
